Lynn Dee Mayhew 1952-2021

On Monday, November 1, 2021, Lynn Dee Mayhew passed away from Metastatic Cancer in Lake County California, at the age of 69. She was a longtime resident of Fort Bragg California. She is survived by her older sister Meridith, her nieces Shana and Kathryn, her daughters Christy and Stacey, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was an avid diver in her younger years, diving and spearfishing in the ocean and rivers of California, winning trophies at different meets with the East Bay Barnacles.

Born Merilynn Dee Mayhew in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she and her family moved to Denver Colorado when she was a small child and then to Walnut Creek California where she graduated from De Valle High School in 1970. Her first daughter was born in 1975 in Walnut Creek California. She then joined her family, who had moved to Fort Bragg California. Her second daughter was born in Fort Bragg in 1976.

During her time in Fort Bragg she started working at Sherwood Oaks Health Center around 1994 and became a Certified Nursing Assistant for the state of California in 1998. She worked at Sherwood Oaks Health Center until about 2005, when she then moved with her daughters and their families to Oak Harbor Washington. While living in Oak Harbor Washington she began working at Careage of Whidbey Nursing Home, in Coupeville Washington, and received her Nursing Assistant Certification for Washington State in 2006. Around 2016 she moved back to Fort Bragg California and went back to work at Sherwood Oaks Health Center until October of 2021 when she fell ill.

Lynn loved her family, she loved Fort Bragg and had many lifelong friends there, she loved working at Sherwood Oaks Health Center because she loved helping people and giving was her love language!

Funeral services will be held at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday the 20th of November at 12 noon, at the family plot. For further information or questions call (707)350-0059.
