Fort Bragg Library Earth Day

“Invest In Our Planet” is the Earth Day theme for make-and-take crafts and storytime through April 23. The Fort Bragg Library is located at 499 Laurel Street, Fort Bragg, CA.

Library Offers Wi-Fi Hot Spots

Each of the five library branches and the Bookmobile now has devices available to be loaned out for a 28-day checkout period on a first-come, first-served, walk-in basis. Each WiFi hotspot kit contains a hotspot device, charging device and instructio­ns. These kits are for people who lack a broadband connection at home. CA State Library Parks Pass Program

County libraries are participat­ing in a pilot program that will provide free, all-day parking at participat­ing CA State Parks. Each county library received one Parks Pass hangtag. Third Thursday Poetry Series

Third Thursday Poetry & Jazz Reading

This week will feature poet Dee Allen, an AfricanIta­lian performanc­e poet based in Oakland, CA. The reading will take place at the Arena Market Cafe at 7:30 pm. The evening will begin with live improv jazz, followed by a featured reading by Dee Allen, and will conclude with more live improv jazz. The cafe is located at 184 Main Street, Point Arena, CA.

Park Prescripti­on Day

Join MendoParks and the Mendocino Mermaids for a “Park Prescripti­on” Earth Day celebratio­n, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm, at the Mendocino Headlands State Park. Friday Free Clothing Pop Up Swap

Every Friday (weather permitting) from 11-4 p.m., the Fort Bragg Food Bank crew of staff and volunteers will be out front at 910 North Franklin Street sorting clothing for the Friday Free Clothing Pop Up Swap, open to clients and community members to come to look through and take home — all for free.

Friday Skate Night

Friday nights from 7 to 9 is family skate night at the Old Rec Gym in Fort Bragg — 213 E Laurel St. The cost is $5 per day and participan­ts under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign them in. Questions call 707 964-9446.

Tire Take Back

This Saturday CalTrans will celebrate Earth Day with a tire take back day from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, or until capacity is reached. 4th Annual Almost Fringe Festival

Loosely based on the Internatio­nal Fringe Art Movement, this festival is a celebratio­n of the Point Arena community and all things creative from traditiona­l to cutting edge, to artsy, to agrarian. The festival begins at 10:00 am with yoga in the park and the Wind & Whales Celebratio­n at the Lighthouse with the Berkeley Kite Wranglers. Live music will be playing at various locations, and poets will read in Centennial Plaza. There will be a high school drama club performanc­e, and a Pop-Up Craft Fair at Druids Hall from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Coast Highway Art Collective will sponsor Art Openings. The Library will also host a variety of activities, and Action Network will have art, face painting, music and bubbles at the park from noon to 2:00 pm. Healing artists will be on hand, and local restaurant­s and food vendors will be serving from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Small Plates and Karaoke will perform from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. 24th Annual Legendary Boonville Beer Festival

This non-profit event will take place at the Mendocino County Fairground­s, 14400 Highway 28, Boonville, CA, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The theme this year is Mardi Gras. Tickets are $45 each. For tickets and more informatio­n go to: info@ avbc.com and click on upcoming events.

Spring Fling

The annual Montessori del Mar Community School Spring Fling fundraiser will be held this year at the Mendocino Grove, located at 9601 CA Highway 1, Mendocino, CA. This year will be a sit-down meal catered by Georgia’s Kitchen from Berkeley with live jazz by Zida and Ira. Trillium will provide a spring dessert. After dinner will be a DJ dance party under the stars. A special kids’ meal with a dessert bar will be available, along with organized kids ‘activities. Tickets are $65. New Fishing Regulation­s

California Fish and Wildlife Commission has adopted emergency fishing regulation­s due to rivers’ low flow and the salmon and steelhead runs. It is the responsibi­lity of the fisherpers­on to call for the status of coastal rivers in Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte Counties. Fort Bragg Vaccine Clinic Tuesday, April 26, 2022 COVID Testing Fort Bragg

COVID testing is available in Fort Bragg outside the Veterans’ Building on Tuesdays, from 9:00 am to 12:45 pm, and 2:00 pm to 4:45 pm. The location is 383 North Harrison Street.

Tuesday in the Tent

Every week it’s Tuesdays in the Tent at the Mendocino Coast Clinics from 2 to 5 pm. All vaccines are available, including 3rd doses for the immune-compromise­d, and boosters. It’s a drive-thru in the white tent on the north side of the clinic, no appointmen­t is needed. Boosters are now available for children aged 12 and up, if it has been at least 6 months since their second dose if they received Moderna or Pfizer, or at least 2 months if they received Johnson & Johnson. Parental consent is required for anyone under 18 to receive a vaccine. Please follow all traffic signage and instructio­ns for the vaccine clinic on Tuesday, and please do not come early.

COVID Testing Fort Bragg

The Mendocino Coast Clinic has free drive-up COVID Surveillan­ce testing (for people with no symptoms) from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on both Wednesday and Thursday. These are different tests and are processed differentl­y. If you have symptoms, call the Clinic at 707-964-1251 to get assessed and see if you need to be tested. If you have been exposed, please wait for 3 or 4 days before asking to be tested. You will not get a true result if the test is done too early after exposure. The location is 205 South Street.
