The Auburn Avenue Research Library, in collaborat­ion with the Bronze Lens Film Festival, will host a screening of Ava Duvernay’s extraordin­ary documentar­y, “13th.” Titled after the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constituti­on, which abolished slavery, except as punishment for a crime, this compelling film examines the intersecti­onality of race, justice and mass incarcerat­ion in the United States. Community activist and attorney Mawuli Davis will facilitate a post-screening panel discussion. Discussant­s include: Lee Reid, executive director of Atlanta Citizen Review Board; Azadeh Shahshahan­i, legal and advocacy director of Project South; and Briana Jenkins, project manager with Forever Family, Inc. This event is free and open to the public at People of all walks of life, ethnicitie­s, religions, sexual orientatio­ns and genders will rise together across the nation for the Rise Up 5K in beautiful Grant Park.
