Superstar shattered as houseguest sparks massive drug raid at Malibu mansion
POP legend Cher is reeling after learning that a “trusted” houseguest was busted at her Malibu mansion for selling deadly drugs and having a weapons stash!
Armed with a warrant, a sheriff’s drug task force swooped down on the songbird’s cushy seaside digs late last month and arrested Donovan Ruiz, 23, who has a sordid criminal past and is related to the star’s assistant. Police say they seized key evidence — including several weapons and clubs.
“Ruiz is suspected of being the source of supply of fentanyl to many users in Ventura County,” says a police source.
Lawmen originally linked Ruiz to a fatal drug overdose — but prosecutors had not determined if they’d charge him in connection with the tragedy five days after his arrest. He was being held on cocaine trafficking charges in lieu of $500,000 bail and has pleaded not guilty.
Cher, who was touring in Australia at the time of the raid, was “shocked and sickened by the charges and furious that her good nature was abused by those closest to her,” spills an insider.
“She trusted this young man, and it’s turned into a total nightmare just when her career is back on track with Mamma Mia! 2.”
Court records also show Ruiz was arrested for battery on Feb 22, 2017. He pleaded no contest, was released on $20,000 bail and is due for sentencing Dec. 10.
In 2014, he served a day in jail and got three years’ probation for auto theft.
The source explains that “when Cher goes out of town, she has someone take care of the place, but this is the houseguest from hell.
“She feels for her assistant, but it angers her that her good name is being dragged through the mud.
“You better believe she’ll do a thorough background check on the next houseguest she has.”
