DORIS DAY’S SIZZLING SECRET DOUBLEHEADER

Mickey Mantle and Maury Wills touched all the bases with America’s sweetheart

-

HOLLYWOOD legend Doris Day was a huge baseball fan — in more ways than one!

Both Los Angeles Dodgers star Maury Wills and late New York Yankees slugger Mickey Mantle claimed to have had torrid affairs with the Lover Come Back star, who died at 97 on May 13.

“Mantle boasted to friends that not only had he spent a night with Day at his regular suite in New York’s St. Moritz Hotel, but that she was one of the best [sex partners] of his life,” author David Kaufman reveals in his book, Doris Day: The Untold Secrets of the Girl Next Door.

Maury, now 86, candidly confesses he too bedded the bouncy Pillow Talk beauty during her 1960s heyday.

“I was married at the time,” he writes in his autobiography, On the Run: The Never Told and Often Shocking Life of Maury Wills.

“But I’d call Doris at three

or four in the morning. I’d ask her to come over and she would. Then we’d make love.”

But Maury says he broke it off with Doris after being warned their then-forbidden interracial romance would doom his baseball career!

“Doris cried when I told her it was over,” he writes. “It’s sad to think what might have been. If only we had met 30 years later.”

The Que Sera, Sera singer publicly denied both affairs to preserve her image as America’s sweetheart — and took her secret to the grave.

But Maury revealed that was their plan all along. “We made an agreement we’d always deny it,” he says. Of course, he kissed and told!
