Cher & Madonna’s claws come out as fiery feud erupts again!
DESPITE being at the age when most people are close to retirement, aging pop divas Cher and Madonna are locked in a ferocious feud — one that first exploded 35 years ago!
The 74-year-old Baby Hold On songbird and 61-year-old Material Girl are furiously bad-mouthing each other whenever and wherever they can as each tries to take revenge, blab sources.
“Cher thinks Madonna’s vulgar and classless,” dishes an insider. “She still trash-talks her to anyone who’ll listen.
“She snickers to pals that Madonna as a performer is a joke” — and all washed up!
A few months ago, Madonna was forced to cancel shows on her Madame X tour because of an injury.
Says the source: “Cher just rolled her eyes and murmured that she should just retire already.”
Meanwhile, the Like a Virgin songbird “thinks Cher is past her prime and just jealous of someone who’s younger, sexier and more talented.”
Madonna fires off messages to their mutual buds that “Cher is a phony and calls her a ‘corpse’ who should give it up and lie down.”
As is often the case in diva meltdowns, the decades-long dispute between the showbiz sexpots exploded over men, with the feud triggered by snooty Madonna, who offended Cher when they first met back in the ’80s.
The Papa Don’t Preach singer was then in the midst of her stormy, four-year marriage to first hubby Sean Penn, also a pal of Cher.
The Believe songbird invited the couple to one of her “cool parties” — and Madonna reportedly acted like a stuck-up witch!
“Cher thought Madonna was rude and pretentious, and had a ‘wrestler’s body,’” tattles the insider.
“She couldn’t guess what Sean saw in her. She watched, seething with fury as Madonna dissed each and every one of her guests.”
Madonna also supposedly tried to hit on Cher’s thenboytoy lover, Rob “Bagel Boy” Camilletti.
Their romance began when Rob was 22 to the If I Could Turn Back Time diva’s 40 years and ended three years later, in 1989, the same year Madonna and Sean’s marriage crashed.
“Everyone knows that Rob has a special place in Cher’s heart and that they’re still really good friends who talk often,” tattles the insider.
But the Strong Enough singer is furious that Madge is also pals with Cher’s ex.
“When Madonna boasts that she and Rob are ‘close’ it annoys Cher to no end,” adds the source.
And Cher complains Madonna has even tried to steal her staff, the source says.
Madonna also boasts she’s worth a whopping $850 million to Cher’s meager $360 million.
Despite the bad blood, Cher’s reps insist there’s no feud. Cher simply says she “never hated Madonna — I just thought she was a bitch!”
Adds the insider: “This feud won’t be going away — ever!”
