MIRACLE INJECTION MELTS OFF FAT WITHOUT DIETING!
Docs claim it’s easier & safer than surgery
FOLKS battling the bulge have a new weapon in the war on obesity, according to a clinical trial showing an existing type 2 diabetes drug appears to trigger an average 15 percent weight loss in patients — with minimal side effects and no dieting!
Hailed as a “game changer” weight-loss treatment, the medication semaglutide is currently used to manage blood sugar levels. But scientists at Chicago’s Northwestern University tested higher doses of the drug in a 68-week trial involving nearly 2,000 overweight participants.
The researchers say patients who received the medication shed close to 15 percent of their body weight, while those on the placebo lost a scant 2.4 percent.
Even more promising, over a third of those who received semaglutide, which is delivered via weekly injections, dropped more than 20 percent of their body weight and the majority of patients showed improvement in symptoms related to diabetes.
Unlike some past weight-loss medications, the jab only caused some marginal gastrointestinal issues, say experts.
And the drug seems less risky than bariatric stomach surgery, which scientists say is the most effective long-term treatment for obesity — helping patients lose up to 30 percent of their weight.
Study leader Dr. Robert F. Kushner, of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, adds, “This is the start of a new era of effective treatments for obesity.”
But scientists warn semaglutide isn’t a one-and-done deal.
They expect patients would have to take it for the rest of their lives.
What’s more, experts say a monthly supply to treat diabetes can run as high as $1,000 — so without insurance coverage, the drug may also leave obesity patients lighter in the wallet!
