MATTHEW PERRY KILLED HIMSELF!

Sullen Friends star was bitter & alone at end

-

ANXIETY-RIDDLED TV legend Matthew Perry died lonely and bitter, but insiders reveal the doomed actor had only himself to blame! Sources say insecure Matthew, 59, felt inferior to his Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer and died in torment after a lifetime of abusing drugs and destroying his matinee idol looks with chainsmoking and gluttony!

“Matthew had all the fancy cars, the glamour, the mansion and a great life of abundance, but beneath it all he was screwed up,” spills an insider.

“He wanted to be happy, but bitterness and resentment kept creeping in. He had a lot of successes but spent too much time comparing them to everyone else’s. He was difficult to deal with, which highlighted his insecurities and imperfections.”

Emergency responders were called to Perry’s Pacific Palisades home on Oct. 28 after aides found him unresponsive in his hot tub. He reportedly had a stash of prescription drugs, including antidepressants and antianxiety pills, but no illegal substances at his $6 million crib.

“It’s ironic Matthew died in his hot tub,” says the insider. “He would sit in there by himself and mope about everything and the sorry state of his life.

“But Matthew was his own worst enemy. Friends would call and leave messages but he shunned most or all of them, only leaving the house to indulge in his passion for pickleball.”

Pals insist the only people the actor talked to were his mom, stepdad, father and siblings. In fact, Matthew wasn’t even invited to Friends co-star Kudrow’s 60th birthday party on July 30.

“The big fib about the cast is that they are all real-life friends, which simply isn’t true,” tattles the tipster.

“Jen, Courteney and Lisa consider each other sisters, while Matthew, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc are like former colleagues you are not close with anymore.”

As GLOBE previously reported, Matthew waged a battle with alcohol and opioids for over 20 years. In his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, he admitted blowing $7 million on 15 visits to rehab.

In 2018, he was hospitalized for a burst colon caused by years of boozing and

pill-popping, but claimed he was sober in recent years. He tried to help other addicts by turning his former Malibu home into a sober living facility, which ran until 2015.

He also admitted being tortured with anxiety while performing before the Friends live audience, saying: “To me, I felt like I was gonna die if they didn’t laugh. I would sweat and go into convulsions. I would freak out.”

So it’s no surprise he had anxiety pills at home.

He also chain-smoked and his diet stunk.

“He went out to play pickleball several times a week, but he smoked all the way there and all the way home,” notes a source. “He had junk food delivered to his house, was overweight and looked terrible.”

The insider adds, “No one could save Matthew. He’d abused his body for years and emotionally was a wreck.

“It was almost inevitable he would succumb to some twisted tragic fate.”
