The rest of the weekend is expected to be at least partly sunny and clear as a tropical depression, which brought wind and rain to the region overnight Friday, weakens and leaves the area, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service canceled all watches and warnings connected to the tropical storm formerly known as Fay at 2 a.m. Saturday, noting the storm was forecast to weaken in intensity as it moved through the New York and southern Connecticut area.

The storm prompted road closures and alerts Friday evening, with Branford police reporting two water rescues.

Gusts of wind reached 49 miles per hour in Greenwich, NWS officials said.

NWS officials called for a 20 percent chance of precipitation Saturday in New Haven, with possible thunderstorms before 8 p.m.

The forecast was similar in Bridgeport. The chance of rain and thunderstorms was 30 percent, officials said.

Some of the storms moving through the area could produce heavy rainfall, officials said.

Sunday is expected to be sunny, with a high of 89, officials said.
