Wayne Margarum, Sr., longtime resident of Stamford, CT passed away at the age of 74.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Arlene of 58 years, his son Wayne, his daughter, Elyce and her husband Billy, Wayne’s grandchild­ren Tori and James and their father, Jimmy.

Wayne was predecease­d by his son Sean.

He owned and operated Margarum Refuse for over 50 years. His business will continue to operate under the same name so that his beloved customers will be cared for.

Wayne was very active in Little League Baseball in Stamford, CT. He sponsored a Little League Baseball team called W.S. Margarum and acted as team manager for 14 years.

He also served as the president of the Babe Ruth Baseball League.

Wayne was instrument­al in starting the St. Leo Parish Fair.

He loved camping, snow skiing, fishing, and boating.

He loved to cook for and entertain family and friends. He was famous for his superbowl parties.

He was happiest when he was spending time with his family, especially his two grandchild­ren.

Wayne endured much loss and many injustices throughout his life. Instead of responding with anger and resentment, Wayne chose to face his hardships with grace, compassion, love and generosity.

To those who knew him best, Wayne Margarum was quick with a joke and always willing to lend a helping hand.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Newtown, CT on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
