Greenwich’s Ogilvy honored for preservati­on work THE DISH

Scene… The Greenwich Historical Society held its David Ogilvy Presentati­on Award & 90th Annual Meeting at the Belle Haven Club on Thursday. The event posthumous­ly honored Greenwich resident David Ogilvy, the former president and owner of David Ogilvy & Associates and a leading force in the town’s real estate industry for over 40 years. The historical society’s firstever David Ogilvy Preservati­on Award was given to his wife, Anne, and his family to recognize his contributi­ons to historic preservati­on in Greenwich. The recipients of this year’s Landmark Recognitio­n Program were also honored. The properties included Mary Tyler Moore’s fieldstone home on Dingletown Road where she lived with her husband, Dr. S. Robert Levine, until her death in 2017; Innis Arden Cottage at Greenwich Point, which was designed by pioneer female architect K. C. Budd; the Greenwich YWCA’s mid-century modernist building on East Putnam Avenue; and a spectacula­r Tudor dwelling in Rock Ridge. For more info on the event, go to www.greenwichh­istory.org.

On the set… Norwalk’s Lockwood-Mathews Mansion will be the set for a new Netflix movie expected to start filming this month. The mansion has previously been used for filming of several movies, including “The Stepford Wives” (1975 and 2004); “House of Dark Shadows” (1970); “Henry May Long” (2008); “Glacier Bay” (2006); “Welcome Back to Collinwood” (2013); “Before You” (2012); and “Shadow Puppets of Doom” (2007). Noted anniversar­y… The Greenwich Police Department celebrates its 125th anniversar­y at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, with an evening of dinner and dancing at the Riverside Yacht Club. Chief of Police James Heavey and the department are marking the anniversar­y with the theme of “Honoring Our Past and Embracing Our Future.” The celebratio­n will include an honor guard procession, bagpipes, awards, silent and live auctions, and live music by ETA. Proceeds will go to the Greenwich Police Department’s Scholarshi­p Fund, a nonprofit that awards college scholarshi­ps to police officers’ children who qualify by ability and character. Scene… Actor Jason Alexander was the big winner on last week’s season premiere of “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” bringing in $198,650 for Americares, a Stamfordba­sed

health-focused relief organizati­on that improves the lives of people affected

by poverty or disasters. Alexander, best for his role as George Costanza on “Seinfeld,” competed against Cheryl Burke of “Dancing with the Stars” and profession­al wrestler Mike “The Miz” Mizanin. Hosted by legends Pat Sajak and Vanna White, “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” is an hourlong version of the iconic game show that gives celebrity contestant­s a chance to win up to $1 million for charity. Out there… The Greenwich Historical Society’s annual Fall Family Festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 9, at its campus

The event will feature live music with the Trummytone­s, led by renowned trombonist and frontman Vinny Nobile; the annual scarecrowb­uilding competitio­n; painting en plein air; craft projects; and food. Scene… Greenwich resident and actor Brendan Fraser is filming the crime drama “Killers of the Flower Moon,” with director Martin Scorsese and actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, and has wrapped up filming in a starring role in the upcoming Darren Aronofsky drama “The Whale.”

Music… The Rockin’ the Garden Outdoor Concert Series at the Greenwich Botanical Center will feature Greenwich’s own Bob Capazzo and the band Merlin from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 10.
