Scene... Director Ron Howard and his wife, author Cheryl Howard, were seen dining al fresco at Eastend on Greenwich Avenue on Tuesday evening. The couple celebrated the nuptials of their daughter Paige Howard to actor/ musician Tim Abou-Nasr in New York’s Central Park last weekend; Ron Howard officiated the ceremony.

Out there... The Domestic Violence Crisis Center’s 20th annual Voices of Courage spring luncheon takes place on Thursday at the Tokeneke Club in Darien from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year’s honorees are Grammy Award-wining artist, humanitari­an and Westport resident Michael Bolton and best-selling author and advocate Jeff Benedict. Scene... Actor and Scarsdale native Noah Schnapp was seen at Gofer Ice Cream in Greenwich recently. The 17-year-old star of the Netflix horror series “Stranger Things” was

recently accepted to the University of Pennsylvan­ia’s Wharton School of Business.

Out there... Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County’s 120th anniversar­y takes place June 3 at Serafina at the IC in Stamford. The event, “120 Club: An Intimate Evening with Vanessa Williams,” will feature the multi-award winning actress/singer and Chappaqua resident. DJ April Larken will provide the music at the event. U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro ,DConn., will be awarded the CLC Champion of Children Award for her unwavering and longtime dedication to children. DeLauro serves as chair of the House Appropriat­ions

Scene... Actor Richard Gere has sold his 30-acre Pound Ridge, N.Y., estate at 81 Lyndel Road, which was listed for $28 million. The property listed was purchased by Gere in 1986 for $1.5 million. The 72-year-old actor and owner of The Bedford Post Inn and his wife, 38-year-old publicist Alejandra Silva, have relocated to a 1930’s Georgian

mansion in nearby North Salem, N.Y. with their two young children.

The 6th Annual Showdown on the Sound in Darien to honor Darien native Michael Taylor’s memory and help reverse the addiction crisis by raising funds for Shatterpro­of takes place on May 21 at Weed Beach in Darien, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature lawn games and a dunk tank, live music with the Connecticu­t-based quintet Vasudo, a silent auction, opening remarks and speeches, the boat parade and race and awards ceremony. Taylor, an allstate tennis player at Darien High School and Villanova University graduate, suffered

from addiction initiated by opioid painkiller­s prescribed after reconstruc­tive shoulder surgery during his junior year at Villanova. He died in April 2016, after two months’ sobriety.
