Genealogy program
The Cos Cob Library will host a program called “Land Records: More Than ‘Metes’ the Eye” with genealogist Edwin W. Strickland II from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Community Room. Strickland, who has been doing genealogy both as an amateur and professionally for 40 years, will discuss land ownership from the right of the king through royal charters, grants and proprietor’s records to individual ownership. After reviewing the differences between metes and bounds and rectilinear survey systems, he will offer several case studies that will demonstrate how land records can answer genealogical questions, showing proofs, connections and relationships. The program is free and open to the public. It is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned family historians. No reservations needed. The program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Cos Cob Library and the Connecticut Ancestry Society.
