Douglas Yerman of the Kinard Realty Group listed 10 Dewart Road in Greenwich, a 5,075square-foot brick colonial on 2.14 acres. The home was built in 1950, but its homeowners in the years since have expanded and renovated the footprint and interiors over the years. The asking price for the five-bedroom, six-bath home is $2.75 million.

“I fell in love with Dewart Road right away,” the seller recalled. She and her family had come from Manhattan to settle in Greenwich, so she appreciated the property’s proximity to the Merritt Parkway and four nearby train stations for commuting to and from the City.

“Greenwich Avenue was also an attraction. We’re only seven minutes to town. We’re also in between two fabulous elementary schools, so that was very appealing,” the homeowner noted.

Yerman has produced a virtual 3D tour of the home for interested buyers who may want to explore the home prior to seeing it in person. The main level comprises an entry foyer with a visually engaging herringbone-patterned hardwood floor; a formal living room with a fireplace; a family room with a double-height stone fireplace and 30ft.-high ceiling; a formal dining room, and an eat-in kitchen.

Previous owners had added on to the house prior to the current owners moving in, creating the formal dining room and a family room with a high, vaulted ceiling.

“We enjoyed entertaining in the family room,” the seller said. “It’s a big room, but it’s very cozy, particularly when the fireplace is roaring. The oversized windows bring the outside inside. We had some very good times here, including Super Bowl parties, watching other sporting events, or just drinking wine. There’s a wine refrigerator in the bar area,” she pointed out.

The current owner sought to transform the home, too, customizing it further, by adding another bay to the garage — from two bays to three — and leveraging the space above it to create a “sanctuary” master bedroom suite. It has “his-and-hers baths,” two closets, and seating and personal exercise space.

The master suite is one of five bedrooms.

The previous owners had already given the kitchen a “facelift,” the seller recalled. “It didn’t need a lot of work, but I retiled it, painted it, added a new backsplash and put in the Caesar stone [surfaces].” She also recently installed a brand new oven.

The kitchen has a classic aesthetic, but more importantly, it’s a highly functional space, which came in handy when hosting as many as 30 guests for Thanksgiving, other holidays and truly special occasions, such as a shower for a beloved daughter and graduation parties over the years.

“We have a wet bar between the dining room and the family room, and there’s a hallway that’s wide open between the room, which I found was great for the flow,” the seller said.

The owner said she’d taken great pride in maintaining the 2.14-acres of land, appending it with plantings and a relatively new masonry that includes a stone wall-anchored fence a stone retaining wall, which “everyone raves about,” she said.

The in-ground pool and terrace were in constant use during the summer months, the seller recalled.

The terrace is expansive and allows for plenty of space for seating vignettes, dining tables and grilling equipment.

“This was thehouse where all our children’s friends loved coming to. … It’s bittersweet to leave this home,” she acknowledged.

Though the property is decidedly private and bucolic, there is still a sense of it being part of a neighborhood, with familiar connections and relationships.

“Dewart Road is a neighborhood street, not one of those winding, wonderful country roads that we have. Nor is it a big, double-lane road. It’s a private street,” the seller said. Across the street is a grand estate with a “wonderful family” who represents two-generations of Dewart Road residents. “All the houses are unique.”

The owner suggested that the new residents of the home will certainly enjoy Greenwich’s many perks, especially Tod’s Point, the town’s golf courses and clubs, and the culturally enriching Bruce Museum.
