Area woman charged with stealing bras

- By John Nickerson

STAMFORD—Police arrested a Bridgeport woman parolee who they say stole four bras worth over $200 from Victoria Secret at the Stamford Town Center mall last September.

Shamora Scales, 37, of Roberts Street, was charged with sixth-degree larceny and is being held in lieu of a $25,000 court appearance bond, but because she is a parolee has been remanded to the custody of the state Department of Corrections.

According to Scales’ five-page arrest affidavit, police were called to the mall on Sept. 30 on the report of a woman stealing the bras worth $238.

A store clerk and mall security officers followed the woman into the parking garage, where she was asked to return to the store with the stolen items. The woman refused and got into her car and drove away, police said.

Police traced the car to Scales, who they say has numerous arrests in North Carolina as well as Connecticut. The majority of the arrests were for larceny.

Police were able to trace the car to Scales and, with a photo identification lineup, obtained an 80-percent identification of Scales by the Victoria’s Secret sales associate who called the theft in to police.

According to the affidavit, Scales’ parole officer was able to find a Facebook picture of Scales wearing the exact same ripped jeans she was wearing when she was caught on video stealing the bras.

Scales was arraigned on the charges at the Stamford courthouse Friday afternoon. No plea was made to the charge.
