FIELD HOCKEY: TOP PERFORMERS

-

Raegan Bailey, Cheshire: The senior forward has been instrumental in keeping the Rams undefeated (6-0) with wins over Lyman Hall, Guilford and Hand last week. The Rams are in a tough division of the SCC that includes fierce rivals Hand, Guilford and Branford. Bailey has been involved in every offensive breakaway, either setting up goals or scoring them.

Aurelia Barker, Thomaston: She is one of many reasons that Thomaston is 6-0 and atop the Berkshire League. Barker has 11 goals and four assists this season, including five goals last week and three goals this week.

Maddie Epke, Guilford: The junior midfielder, a GameTimeCT All-State and Register All-Area selection last season, had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over Hand in a rematch of the 2019 CIAC Class M championship game that Guilford won 3-2. She had three goals and two assists in a 6-0 win over Branford on Monday.

Caitlin Gallagher, Glastonbury: The senior midfielder-forward has led Glastonbury to a 6-0 record with three goals and an assist last week in wins over Conard and East Catholic. Coach Maureen Perkins said Gallagher is central to the attack by helping to generate scoring chances and distributing the ball. She often draws the attention of defenders and makes space for others. She has great stick skills, vision, and knowledge of the game. She is committed to play at Bryant.

Lauren Horne, Westbrook: The senior goalie, a Regional All-American last season, had six saves in a 1-0 win over Shoreline Conference rival Morgan to lead the Knights to a 2-2-2 record. Horne has three shutouts this season including a 0-0 tie with Old Saybrook.

Lauren Houle, Cheshire: The junior midfielder, who coach Eileen Wildermann calls the Rams’ quarterback, has contributed to the team’s 6-0 start, including wins over Guilford, Lyman Hall and Hand last week. She is a solid distributor of the ball and excels on both offense and defense.

Hannah Laone, Thomaston: She has four goals and is the Golden Bears leading playmaker with 13 assists. Thomaston has outscored opponents 29-2.

Hannah Nulick, Stonington: The junior center forward scored in every game last week and added an assist to lead Stonington (6-1). Nulick opened the scoring in a 6-0 win over Killingly, she added two goals and an assist in a 5-0 win over Woodstock and scored the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter in a 1-0 win over Fitch, who was previously unbeaten. Nulick and Ellie Korinek are the team’s leading goal scorers with seven each.

Blake Wilks, Darien: The freshman scored the first and third goals in a 3-1 win over FCIAC rival New Canaan on Monday “at very clutch points in the game,” Darien coach Mo Minicus said. In the game sophomore Kaci Benoit shut down Rams standout Polly Parsons. The Blue Wave improved to 4-0-0-1.
