- Staff reports

Nine Brunswick School senior student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent and Institutional Letters of Intent on Wednesday at the school’s campus.

Five students will continue their respective lacrosse careers at the Division I level. Blake Borges will play at Syracuse University, Blake Burchill will join the Bucknell lacrosse team, Lucas Delgado is heading to the University of Michigan, Mario Rinaldi also commited to Bucknell and Luke Waters will compete at Duke.

Borges is a midfielder for the Bruins.

“Blake was new to the team last year and we are very excited about having him for the upcoming spring season,” Brunswick lacrosse coach David Bruce said. “He will help us on the first two lines as a midfielder.”

Burchill is a faceoff midfielder.

“Blake Burchill made our team as a freshman and is a very good faceoff midfielder,” Bruce said. “For us, he does more. He is a two-way midfielder and he is going to play defense, offense, help us in transition and add to depth the faceoff-X.”

One of the captains of the team, Delgado has sparked the squad offensively the past several seasons.

“He is a hard work pays off type of guy,” Bruce said of Delgado. “He has been on the team three years and has proven himself each season.”

Waters also made the Bruins’ varsity team as a freshman.

“Luke is also a captain and he should be able to lead the midfield line,” Bruce said.

A defender Rinaldi joined the Bruins as a sophomore.

“He is a big, strong defender, who will really lead our defense,” Bruce noted.

Matthew McGroarty will soon take his hockey skills to Quinnipiac.

As a junior last season, McGroarty anchored the Bruins’ top line, registering 21 goals and 16 assists.

“Matthew has had a huge impact on the Brunswick hockey program since he made the team as a freshman,” Brunswick coach Mike Kennedy said. “He’s always brought the right attitude and intensity to the rink, whether for a Monday practice or a big Friday night home game. He loves the game and it shows.”

McGroarty will serve as one of the Bruins’ captains this winter.

“As a co-captain for the upcoming season, we’ll expect him to do even more as a leader on and off the ice,” Kennedy said. “And we have no doubt that he’ll, once again, rise to the occasion. He always does.”

Aidan Redahan a standout baseball player for Brunswick’s varsity team since his freshman year, will play at Central Connecticut State University. Fencer Cameron Evans is heading to Duke and Dan Taylor, who has helped lead the Bruins’ successful water polo team, will play at the United States Naval Academy.
