Aquarion offering rain barrels made from recycled material
Aquarion Water Co. is again offering 60-gallon rain barrels for its Connecticut customers at a discounted rate. The rain barrel initiative supports Aquarion’s water conservation efforts and provides numerous benefits for users.
Rain barrels are an efficient and effective way to store rainwater for later use by collecting rain and runoff from a roof or downspout. They provide a free and ready source of water for filling watering cans, connecting a garden hose, feeding a drip irrigation system and other outdoor uses. For example, one 60-gallon recycled food grade barrel can consistently provide water for a 100square-foot garden.
“Rain barrels are a great resource for homeowners, especially during dry summer months when water use may be restricted,” said Carolyn Giampe, director of environmental management for Aquarion. “In addition to conserving water, which helps residents save money, rain barrels also reduce pollution in Connecticut’s water supplies by limiting storm water runoff.”
Aquarion is offering rain barrels to its customers for $75, which is 40 percent less than the regular retail price of $125. To order, visit www.aquarionwater.com/ rainbarrels.
