UConn students charged in party with over 100 people
State police said they received a complaint of a loud party involving about 100 people at a Hunting Lodge Road residence before midnight Saturday.
MANSFIELD — Two University of Connecticut students were arrested this weekend in connection with a large off-campus party involving more than 100 guests, state police and school officials said Monday.
Christian Vitti, 21, has been charged with violating an executive order related to gathering sizes, permitting a minor to possess alcohol illegally and interfering, according to a release from state police. Vitti was released on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court April 21
Mikaela Puzzo, 19, has been charged with disorderly conduct and possession of alcohol by a minor, according to the release. Puzzo was also released on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court April 14.
In a written statement, UConn spokesperson Stephanie Reitz said the university received a referral from state police regarding the gathering, which “involved students and allegedly violated the governor’s executive orders.”
“The university will use that information as part of the student conduct process to determine if any violations of the Student Code of Conduct occurred and any subsequent resolution options,” she wrote.
“Student conduct records are prohibited from release due to federal student privacy laws, so specific actions taken involving individuals in this incident or earlier incidents cannot be disclosed,” Reitz added. “However, UConn takes the governor’s executive order’s provisions very seriously, and expects its students to do the same to help protect the health and safety of its campus communities.”

“It was reported that the people at the gathering were not social distancing,” state police said.
State police said they saw more than 100 people at the party, and Vitti admitted to living at the home.
“The partygoers were then dispersed and allowed to arrange for safe rides home,” state police said.
State police said Puzzo was “less than cooperative” and “threw” a canned alcoholic drink at a cop, who wasn’t injured, according to the release.
“Puzzo was placed under arrest without incident,” the release read. “She was also found to be in possession of additional alcoholic beverages.”
