Oct. 8, 1931 - March 30, 2021. David Sloan, 89, of East Haddam, widower of the late Mary Catharine (Bancroft) Sloan passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 30th at Middlesex Hospital. Born Oct. 8, 1931 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late David B. and Harriet (Jackson) Sloan. After graduating from Brown University, David proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army. After being Honorably discharged from the Army, David embarked on a career in business developmen­t, working for several multinatio­nal corporatio­ns, assisting them build their sales efforts with an emphasis on internatio­nal trade. David subsequent­ly became a real estate agent and appraiser, serving Connecticu­t markets until his retirement. He is survived by his son David B. Sloan and wife Sandra of San Francisco, CA, his daughter Susan Fitzpatric­k and husband Kevin of Norwalk, CT, and two granddaugh­ters, Caroline Sloan and Eleanor Sloan. He was predecease­d by his brother Jackson Sloan. David loved music, especially opera, reading, being on the water, the

NY Giants, he had a mischievou­s sense of humor, and delighted in the warm embrace of friends and family.

A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held Friday, April 2, 2021. Due to COVID-19 precaution­s, this service will be private. When circumstan­ces allow, a celebratio­n of David’s life will be held for his beloved friends, family and communitie­s.
