BULLDOGS 19, GENERALS 14

MAVERICKS 27, RAIDERS 6

The Glenville Mavericks played their best game of the year as quarterback Danny Ciccarelli and running back Noah Park led the team offensively. Park’s first touchdown was on a nice pass from Ciccarelli with Park scampering another 40 yards for the score. Later in the game, Ciccarelli was able to sell a misdirection play and run into the endzone untouched. The Mavericks converted the extra point with Park diving over the pile. Park’s second touchdown came behind the blocks of lead blocker Caedon Tate and offensive lineman Hunter Freder.

Mav receivers also had a strong game as Grant Goldring and Max Corbo both had big catches and strong downfield blocking. The last score of the game came when the Mavs were able to strip the Raiders in their own endzone, with outside linebacker Caedon Tate pouncing on the ball. The Mavericks again converted their extra point with Ciccarelli bearing two Raiders to the corner of the endzone. On defense, the Mavericks had two successive big plays from defensive end Jack Sepot which set the tone for the game. Defensive linemen, Alex Mrdelja and Nash Edwards were constantly in the backfield and running down the ball carriers. And when the ball carrier made it past the line, big hits were delivered by inside linebacker Goldring and cornerbacks Brett Goodwin and Sam McGarvey.

The Generals offense moved the ball down the field all game with big runs from second-year workhorses Jack Kelly and Owen Lavin. Madsen Ehrhart and Matthew Ward had great games as the signal-callers completing passes and taking it themselves. Luke Perrillo yanked down a deep pass in the second half. Colby Loflin, Eli Himelstein, Andy Stedem, Alex Wayland and Luke Weiksner built a wall and opened up holes. Hudson Squires blocked across the perimeter to allow runners a free path. Defensively, Will Hadley came down with a game-changing interception in the endzone. Will Pratt pinned his ears back and came up for big tackles all game. Alex Nietzell caused problems across the defensive front.
