MIKU SUSHI offers special to benefit the YWCA Greenwich.

-

In November, MIKU SUSHI on Greenwich Avenue and the YWCA Greenwich are partnering to raise money for scholarships to afterschool programs.

MIKU’s chef created four new dishes that will be available only this month. All of the proceeds from the special menu will benefit two YWCA programs: Kaleidoscope Backyard for students in kindergarten through fifth grade and YW Hub for sixth- to eighth-graders.

“Collaborations like this give us the ability to make an impact in the community,” said MIKU co-owner K Dong. “Our team enjoys learning about our nonprofit partners and sharing that information with our customers.”

MIKU’s team has donated more than $25,000 to local nonprofit organizations since the partnership campaign launched with Kids in Crisis on Feb. 1, 2020.

“The money raised during this venture will go to the financial scholarship fund, which assists about 30 percent of our after-school population,” said Arthur Smith, director of youth programs at YWCA Greenwich. “These participants then have the opportunity to participate freely in gymnastics and swimming classes, learn computer coding skills, athletic skills — and more importantly, learn social skills and create friendships.”

MIKU is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and offers takeout and catering. For more information, visit mikugreenwich.com.

Founded in 1919, YWCA Greenwich provides preschool and after-school programs, aquatics programs, youth athletics, health and fitness programs and seminars focusing on racial justice and women’s empowerment. For more information, visit ywcagreenwich.org/after-school/.
