GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TOP PERFORMERS
Erika Danielson, Suffield: The senior had 23 kills and 10 aces in a 3-2 victory over No. 1 seed Granby in the NCCC championship match last Friday.
Ella Freed, East Lyme: Freed was named the Most Outstanding Player of the ECC Div. I final after posting 26 kills, 10 digs and four aces in a 3-1 win over Lyman Memorial.
Leilani Gillespie, Darien: The Wave’s junior middle hitter had 40 kills in three FCIAC tournament games, including 16 in a 3-0 quarterfinal win against St. Joseph, and 14 in the final against Greenwich.
Abby Jones, Bristol Eastern: The senior setter racked up 158 assists in four matches as the seventh-seed Lancers captured the CCC championship. Her performance included 51 assists in a five-set victory over No. 2 Conard in the quarterfinals, and 44 assists in a 3-1 decision over Simsbury in the final.
Kalle Legassey, Woodland: Legassey, a junior, collected 30 digs and 14 kills in a five-set loss to Seymour in the NVL championship match.
Avery Mola, Cheshire: The SCC’s Player of the Year racked up 22 kills, 12 digs and four aces in the conference final, when the Rams defeated Amity in four sets. She also had a dozen kills in a semifinal shutout of Daniel Hand.
Camdyn Roth, Trumbull: Roth had a pair of doubledoubles in the FCIAC tournament, finishing with 12 kills and 11 digs in a quarterfinal win over Wilton, and 11 kills and 12 digs in a semifinal loss to Greenwich.
Liana Sarkissian, Greenwich: Sarkissian, a senior middle, was named the MVP of the Cardinals’ 3-1 win over Darien in the FCIAC championship match on Saturday. She had 16 kills, five blocks and seven digs in the final, and 47 kills, 14 blocks and 21 digs in three playoff matches.
Adele Sotgiu, Greenwich: The senior had 48 kills and 30 digs as the Cardinals won three matches and captured the FCIAC championship.
