Saulsbury All-Star Game to be held Saturday

The Robert Saulsbury All-Star Game will be held Saturday at Wilbur Cross High, beginning at 3 p.m.

A group of Connecticu­t All-Stars, highlighte­d by Bristol Central senior center and UConn-bound Donovan Clingan, will square off against an all-star team from Rhode Island. Connecticu­t will be coached by Tim Barrette of Bristol Central, the No. 1 team in the GameTimeCT final top 10 poll, and former Hyde coach Steve Jefferson. Saulsbury, the longtime former Wilbur Cross coach, will be at the game on the bench.

Joining Clingan on the all-star team includes teammate Damion Glasper, Tyler Favre (Hand), Camaree Williams (Wilbur Cross), Kyle Kearson (West Haven), Tavares Tuck (West Haven), Amare Davis (Notre Dame), Derrell Redd (Hamden), Matt Knachel (Ridgefield), Matt Gibbs (Hillhouse), Micah Morgan (Amity), Tyrell StaplesSan­tos (Kolbe Cathedral), Avery Hinnant (Naugatuck) and Ese Onakpoma (Naugatuck).

The Rhode Island team, will be as follows: Jared Chaloux (Narraganse­tt), Jayden DiSimone (Mount Pleasant), Dimitri Iafrate (La Salle Academy), Mike Tartaglia (Smithfield), Marquis Buchanan (Classical), Raphel Awa (La Salle Academy), Alexis DelGuidice (Classical), Benny Hurd (Portsmouth), Jason Peters (Times2 Academy), Riley Gran (Smithfield), Matt Buchanan (Mount Pleasant), William Begones (Coventry), David Lynch (Bishop Hendricken), Connor Chambers (Cranston East) and Ricky Fonseca (Saint Patrick Academy).

CARE ALL-STAR GAMES

The Coaches Advancemen­t for Racial Equity Second Annual All-Star Games will be held April 8 at Windsor. Admission is $5.

The girls game will be held at 5:30 p.m. Team Ankle Breaker, coached by Brittany Huggins (Hall) is as follows: McKenzie Mandyck (Hall), Janet Woodard (Windsor), Shailyn Pinkney (East Hartford), Kayla Henry (East Hartford), Ady Gonzalez (Windham), Amar’Ryi Edwards (Danbury), Tenley Wallin (Danbury), Madison Lockery (Stamford), Breanna Jacobs (Stamford) and Megan Marcotte (Enfield).

Team Nothing But Net, coached by Sam Zullo (Simsbury) is as follows: Jenna Cuniowski (Canton), Bella Tawney (Westminste­r), Megan Reilly (Pomperaug), Lilly Ferguson (Newington), Val Luizzi (Bacon Academy), Claire Green (E.O. Smith), Kristen Rodriguez (St. Joseph), Kayleigh Carson (St. Joseph), Millie Walker (Waterford) and Sophia Coppola (Hand).

The boys game begins at 7:30 p.m. Team Turn Me Up, coached by Charles Silvan (Fitch) and Dave Cornish (Norwich Free Academy), is as follows: Mehki Tyson-Slaughter (Capital Prep), Lake McLean (Bloomfield), Jalen Hamblin (Conard), Elijah Wilborn (Middletown), Tyrone Cummings (NFA), Robert Ruiz Rivera (Wethersfie­ld), Josh Brown (Granby), Rhodia Perry (New London), Yaniel Hernandez (Fitch), Avery Hinnant (Naugatuck) and Camaree Williams (Wilbur Cross).
