Stamford waterfront compound with 2 houses sells for $8.4 million
House hunters in the market for a waterfront estate in Stamford now have one less property to pick from.
According to luxury real estate firm Brown Harris Stevens, 18 Wallacks Drive has been sold for $8.4 million, marking the highest residential closing in Stamford. Information provided by Brown Harris Stevens noted that the top spot was previously held by 957 Rock Rimmon Road, which sold for $8.2 million in 2003. The 18 Wallacks Drive property isn't the only Stamford estate to break sales records in recent history. In September 2021, the home on 123 Saddle Rock Road sold for $7.5 million and set a record “for the highest ever residential waterfront property sale in Stamford.”
Jennifer Runnette, the listing agent who presented the home, said the home spoke to buyers' increased need for space following the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our local market has been particularly strong as buyers were drawn to the suburbs in a post COVIDworld,” Runnette said in an email. “Wallacks Drive was a standout among the available inventory – with multiple properties bundled together into a special package, this was truly one of a kind opportunity that offered endless ways for the new owners to enjoy the best of our community.”
While the Wallacks Drive property set a new record in the city, there is more to the estate than just its noteworthy price tag. Sitting on 6 acres on Long Island Sound, the Wallacks Drive property contains two homes and five cottages, according to the listing details. The first of the two homes is known as Fieldstone Manor, which is accompanied by two beachfront cottages, a 205-foot dock and water views. The second home on the property is an 1890s carriage house, which has a gunite pool, and both homes on the land have more than 500 feet of private beachfront, according to the listing details.
The structures on the property combine for a total of 55 rooms, 19 bedrooms, 20 full bathrooms and more than 20,000 square feet. While 18 Wallacks Drive recently sold, there is currently one property at 140 Wallacks Drive listed for $7.995 million, which has 13 bedrooms, 10 full bathrooms and just over 14,000 square feet.
