With Revis, Klecko heading to Canton, Jets picked for Hall of Fame Game
INDIANAPOLIS — A special weekend for Jets fans has become that much sweeter.
On Tuesday, it was announced that the Jets will play in the 2023 Hall of Fame Game against the Cleveland Browns in Canton, Ohio, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, located next to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame Game will take place Thursday, Aug. 3, at 8 p.m. It will be the first game of the 2023 preseason. This will be the Jets’ third time playing in the Hall of Fame Game and the first since 1992. It will be the Browns’ sixth appearance and first since 1999.
The Jets will play two nights before Darrelle Revis and Joe Klecko are both officially inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Revis and Klecko will receive their enshrinees Gold Jackets at a dinner held at the Canton Memorial Civic Center and Cultural Center Friday night and will each be enshrined at the annual ceremony, which is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 5.
Revis and Klecko were two of the seven players announced as part of the 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. Former Browns tackle Joe Thomas, former Buccaneers defensive back Ronde Barber, ex-Chargers coach Don Coryell, former Bengals cornerback Ken Riley, former Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas and former Cowboys and Broncos linebacker DeMarcus Ware will also be enshrined that weekend.
Because the Jets and Browns will kick off the preseason a week earlier than the rest of the league, both teams will likely begin training camp a week sooner. With teams only having three preseason games on the schedule, most teams start training camp around July 28. The Jets and Browns will now have four preseason games.
Tickets for the 2023 Hall of Fame Game will go on sale at 10 a.m. ET on March 8.
