Rita Cecio Marinaro, 94 of Greenwich, CT beloved wife of Anthony Marinaro (deceased) passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2023 at The Greens at Greenwich in Greenwich, CT. The daughter of the late Pasquale and Louisa Cecio, Rita was born in Mount Vernon, NY on September 3, 1929 and was a life-long Greenwich resident. She was predecease­d by her brothers Pasquale and Paul. She is survived by her son Anthony (Diane) Marinaro of East Haven, CT and daughter Margherita (Antonio) Capicotto of White Plains, NY. She was the grandmothe­r of Andrew (Kayla), Brigida, Nicholas and Giulia and had many nieces and nephews.

Rita graduated from Greenwich High School and Stone Secretaria­l School. She was a legal secretary for many years in Greenwich and Stamford working for many prestigiou­s law firms which included Hirshberg, Pettengill & Strong and also Cummings & Lockwood.

Rita was an active member of the Greenwich community where she served as President of the Greenwich Council of Catholic Women, President of the Byram Garden Club, Co-President of the Greenwich District Council of Catholic Women, was a member of the Glenville Civic Associatio­n, and participat­ed in various other organizati­ons. She also volunteere­d at the election polls in Greenwich for many years. She enjoyed many craft hobbies including flower arranging, painting, drawing, gardening and baking. Rita loved to travel and visited many countries around the world numerous times. At home in Greenwich she loved to visit Island Beach, Bruce Park, Todds Point and going to dinner and shows in New York City. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchild­ren who were the center of her life.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Castiglion­e Funeral Home on 544 Old Post Road #3 in Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church, 84 Sherwood Avenue in Greenwich. Following mass interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n at alz.org/donate.
