Greenwich Hospital named ‘Pinnacle of Excellence’
Greenwich Hospital recently announced that it was named a 2023 Human Experience Pinnacle of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey, a global leader in healthcare experience solutions and services. The award is part of Press Ganey’s annual ranking of the top hospitals and health systems in the country based on performance in patient experience.
As a winner of the Press Ganey HX Pinnacle of Excellence Award, Greenwich Hospital has ranked in the top 5 percent of healthcare providers in delivering what the group describes as outstanding patient experience in more than 200,000 outpatient procedures. Press Ganey works with more than 41,000 healthcare facilities.
“Greenwich Hospital demonstrates the transformative power of patient-centered care, positive employee experiences and effective clinical outcomes,” said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO and chairman at Press Ganey, in a news release. “By prioritizing both their employees and the communities they serve to raise healthcare experiences, Greenwich Hospital sets the standard for compassionate healthcare.”

Greenwich student scores in sailing competition
Greenwich Academy sophomore Helena Borcherding and her crew Genevieve Schmidt, of Jensen Beach High School in Florida, won the bronze medal and Top Junior Boat at the i420 U.S. National Sailing Championships which took place Dec. 26 through Dec 30. The pair also finished fourth and won Top Junior Boat at the U.S. Sailing Junior Olympics C420 Championships which took place Dec. 2 and Dec. 3. They will go on to compete at North American Sailing Championships this month.
Winner of poster contest named
Cos Cob School fourth grader Madeleine Boldt was named the Greenwich winner of the 2023-24 Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Contest. The contest was open to fourth and fifth grade students to help promote Fire Prevention Month.
The annual contest attracts thousands of students throughout the state who this year designed and produced posters around the theme of “Fire Prevention — Everyone/ Everyday.” The contest is a cooperative effort of the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Connecticut Department of Education, Connecticut Fire Marshal’s Association, Connecticut Fire Chief ’s Association and the Connecticut FAIR Plan, which represents the Connecticut Insurance Industry.
As the Greenwich winner, Boldt will now compete
against other students in Fairfield County and Connecticut.
Local students land on Dean’s List
Greenwich area students were among those to land on the Dean’s List at area universities.
Three Greenwich students were named to the Dean’s list for Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. They are Sela Turkel and Gunther Krieg of Riverside and Thomas Jedlicka of Greenwich.
The list was open to students who were ranked in the top 20 percent of undergraduate students within each division for the Fall semester 2023.
At Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I., six Greenwich students were named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester: Martin Curley of Cos Cob; Sam Eichmann and Drew Steinfeld of Greenwich; Max Muftic of Old Greenwich; and Tina Shala and
Kirsty Winn of Riverside.
Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean’s List that semester.
Korean War veterans sought
Greenwich is planning a ceremony for Korean War veterans and is reaching out to residents who served.
If you are a Korean War veteran or know someone who served during that time, town officials want hear from you to make sure all area veterans attend the service and are honored. Veterans are asked to reach out to Ken Borsuk, executive assistant to the first selectman, via email at Ken.Borsuk@greenwichct.gov or by phone at 203-622-7702.
This is early in the planning stages; town officials said in a statement that they want to have as much outreach as possible to local
veterans. More details will be released when the
town has locked down a date and time.
