GREENWICH — People can enjoy pancakes, sausage, orange juice, coffee and more Saturday at the Greenwich Lions Club’s annual pancake breakfast.

The 61st annual pancake breakfast is taking place from 8 a.m. to noon in the Greenwich High School student center. The breakfast took place at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center up until last year.

“Last year’s event was a success in a new location as well as the first breakfast after a three year hiatus due to the pandemic,” said Allen O’Farrell, chair of the pancake breakfast, in a statement. “We are thrilled to hold this fun community event once again, so centrally located and easy for the entire town to attend.”

People need a ticket to attend the breakfast. Tickets purchased in advance at the Perrot Library’s adult circulation desk or through a Greenwich Lions Club member are $8 per person. At the door, tickets are $10 per person. Children ages 6 to 11 require an $8 ticket to attend, but the breakfast is free for kids ages 5 and under.

With a ticket, people can get an unlimited amount of pancakes, sausages, syrup, coffee, orange juice, tea and milk.

“Greenwich Lions Club members prepare the pancakes and sausages for attendees right in front of them,” O’Farrell said in a statement.

O’Farrell added that the event is more than just a breakfast — there will also be a bake sale, door prizes, entertainment, free eye screenings for kids ages 2 to 6 and face painting by Faces by Wells.

“Plus, new this year, we’ll be presenting the Lions Club donations to over 30 local non-profits,” O’Farrell said in a statement.

The funds raised at the breakfast will support the “many service projects that the Greenwich Lions Club lead to help people in the town of Greenwich and surrounding communities,” according to a Greenwich Lions Club statement.

“As our motto is ‘WE SERVE,’ we are known for fighting blindness, serving youth, providing award grants, helping during disasters, caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled,” according to the statement.
