To help business professionals better understand news organizations, the Above Board Chamber of Florida hosts its annual “How to get discovered by the media” luncheon at the Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers on Sept. 8 and at the Hilton Naples on Sept. 12.

Chamber president and founder Jeanne Sweeney says media in a panel format share tips for getting the message out, especially for nonprofits with different types of issues. “It’s the most popular among our events,” Sweeney says. “It’s not only fun, but attendees leave with many useful tools to work with in the future.”

Those attending the event will discover that a generic press release isn’t always the best approach, for instance. “You need to build relationships with the media,” Sweeney says.
