BACK PAGE STORY

Page Field Army Airfield in 1942 was the site for military pilot training that included bombers and fighter planes. The feds leased the airport from Lee County, using it to train a pilot averaging 80-90 hours before shipping out. Page Field was down the road from Buckingham Army Airfield in east Fort Myers. Both bases retain relics from the 1940s.
