A STAR IS BORN

One of the more remarkable things about the premiere of Doublewide at the Florida Rep has been the casting of Isabella Cintron, a Cypress Lake High student, in the critical role of Lorelai. “I can’t even tell you how rare that is,” says playwright Stephen Spotswood. “You usually have an actor in their 20s who can play a teenager. I’m very excited to have an age-appropriate actress in the role.”

The play marks a professional milestone for Cintron, a part of youth programs at the Rep since she was 7 years old. The actress holds aspirations to perform on Broadway, and this production serves as her first professional role at the company’s main stage. “This is my dream,” she says, “my goal for as long as I could remember.”
