Guymon Rotary recognizes Students of the Month

GUYMON - Kaylee Rhodes’ parents are Steve and Amy Rhodes. Her grandparen­ts are Max and Mary Prose, Patrick and Kaye Scott, and the late David Rhodes. She is a four-year member of the Guymon High School ( GHS) Softball Team and a three-year member of both GHS Basketball and National Honor Society. Kaylee is a member of Kristina Robert’s Piano Studio, is currently in 4-H and holds the position of secretary for the Texas County 4-H Youth Council. Her plans after high school are to attend Northweste­rn Oklahoma State University (NWOSU) and earn her Bachelors of Science in Nursing then continue her education and earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice.

Kaeden Justice Acev

edo is the son of Jimmy Acevedo and Tiffany and Tyler Boyd. He is the grandson of Tammy and Frank Romero, Mary and Leonard Acevedo, and Twila and Terri Boyd. He is also the great-grandson of Roy Ray Ralstin. His five siblings are Kami, Kyven, Trey, and Tianna Acevedo and Elias Boyd.

Kaeden is a four-year member of the Pride of the Panhandle Band where he received a “1” for an ensemble he did his junior year at regionals. Kaeden starts on varsity in football, basketball and baseball and plans to play baseball in college. Kaeden has been a three-year member of Student Council and National Honors Society and has done countless hours of community service at the local food bank, Loaves and Fishes. Kaeden has also been a four-year member of the GHS Speech team where he has taken three pieces to finals at state his freshman and sophomore year, was awarded as part of the All-State Cast for One Act his sophomore year, and qualified for Nationals his junior year, at which, he placed 22nd in the nation for Programmed Oral Interpreta­tion. His freshman year, he was also awarded outstandin­g novice by his speech coach, Michael Patterson. He was also chosen as homecoming king for the 2020-2021 school year

In the future, Kaeden plans to attend college, earn a bachelor’s degree in business and pursue a career in wind energy and renewable resources. Kaeden would like to thank the Rotary Club for choosing him for this prestigiou­s award, his parents for always pushing him to be his best, his siblings for being his encouragem­ent to strive to be better, and his speech coach Michael Patterson for always believing in him. He would also like to thank the city of Guymon because he would not be where he is today without the constant support from his community.
