Dennis Allen Ukens, 74, a long-term resident of Dunaway Manor, died on December 9, 2020 at Guymon, Oklahoma. He was the son of Walter and Jean Ukens and was born in Liberal, Kansas on May 1, 1946.

Dennis grew up on the family farm south of Hooker and attended Hooker Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1964. In addition to helping on the family farm after graduation, Dennis also worked for the Herbel Brothers operation at Hooker for a number of years and enjoyed the time he spent with Edwin, Wilbert, George and James Herbel.

Dennis was baptized and confirmed into faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hooker, Oklahoma, and was a member of St. John’s at the time of his death.

Dennis is survived by his brother, Wayne Ukens, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, his sisters, Marcia (Chris) Longest of Collinsvil­le, Oklahoma, Brenda (Mark) Reinhardt of Cypress, Texas, and Anita (Tim) Evans of Kismet, Kansas. He was “Uncle Dennis” to Stefani (Scott) Walker of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jay (Christy) Sellers of Waurika, Oklahoma, Jenna (Jason) Johnson of Holcomb, Kansas, Sharla (Jason) Arrington of Plains, Kansas, Lacey Reinhardt of San Antonio, Texas, and Tio Ukens of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Great nieces and nephews include Kaden Johnson, Roxana Stone, Logan Walker, Korryn Johnson, Charly Sellers, Chaney Sellers, and Stony Sellers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Jean Ukens.

Dennis loved horses, old western movies and TV shows, and he was always up for a game of dominoes. He also loved watching OU Football.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Dunaway Manor, Guymon, Oklahoma or St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hooker, Oklahoma in care of Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942. The family would like to thank the staff at Dunaway Manor for the care and friendship shown to Dennis during the many years he lived with them.
