Collision in Beaver County leaves 2 injured
BEAVER, Okla. – A driver and passenger on a moped were struck by a car in Beaver County on Tuesday at approximately 4:30 p.m., according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).
Approximately 18 miles south and 2 miles east of Beaver, a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by
20- yearo l d Caitley Adams of Woodward, traveled westbound on U.S. Highway 270. The Cruze topped a hillcrest where a moped (unknown year, make or model), driven by 56- yearold Todd Lagwig of Lincoln, NE, was parked in the roadway, facing westbound. The Cruze struck the moped, causing both vehicles to depart the roadway to the right.
Lagwig was transported by ambulance to Beaver County Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released with head injuries. His passenger, 28-year-old Juana Saavedra of Austin, Texas, was transported by ambulance to
Beaver County Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Northwest Texas Healthcare in Amarillo, Texas where she was dmitted in stable condition with leg, trunk internal and head injuries. Adams was uninjured.
According to Trooper Tanner Bozarth’s investigation, the driver of the moped was under the influence of illegal drugs, and the cause of the collision was attributed to the moped being stopped in the traffic lane. Bozarth was assisted on the scene by Trooper Cody Creswell, Trooper David Welch, Beaver County Sheriff’s Office, Beaver County EMS, Elmwood Fire Department, Beaver Fire Department, Perryton EMS and Booker EMS.
