Karen Rice

-

Karen Lorene Rice was born on August 11, 1947, in Guymon, OK. She attended school in both Texhoma and Guymon and graduated High School from Cimarron, NM in 1966. She was married to Conley Lee Rice on December 19th, 1965 until 1989, and had two children, Kiley Wayne and Keenan Lee Rice.

Karen worked many jobs in her life and was known for always working so hard and providing for her family. She was a nurse’s aide at Texas County Memorial Hospital, worked many years for Dr. Ronald Vaughn, DDS, worked as an accounts clerk at CRI Feeders, and was currently working at the City of Guymon as the Director of Sanitation.

A special time for Karen was when she and the family lived in Alex, OK on the Ted Wells Jr. horse ranch. She loved working with the horses and especially watching Kiley and K.L. growing up there and learning so much about equine and gaining love and respect for the ranch.

Karen loved her family with all her heart. She was the heart and soul of her family, a true matriarch, and absolutely loved her children and grandchildren who knew her as “Nana” and was known as “Katy” to her three brothers. She took absolute joy in seeing her grandchildren play sports, participate in school programs, or just watching her greatgrandson Liam play in the park – Oklahoma Park is and will always be considered “Nanny’s Park”.

There were many that she considered extended family and cared for so much. Kiley and K.L.’s friends were her kids and those she worked for and with, she considered family. Her smile was contagious and her blue eyes would light up the room.

“Nana” was an avid OU Sooners football fan. She never missed a game, and at the end of this season, had already started the countdown to the 2021 season.

Karen had attended Living Word Fellowship for many years and currently attended the Nazarene Church in Guymon, OK. Our family takes comfort knowing she is seeing the glory of heaven and is face to face with our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. She was so loved by many and her absence from this world will leave a void in our hearts.

Karen was preceded in death by her Father, Paul Brian Keenan, Mother, Lorene Delseenia Wilson Keenan, brothers, Larry Paul Keenan, Haskell Max Keenan, and son, Keenan Lee Rice.

Karen is survived by her son, Kiley Wayne Rice and his wife, Abby, brother, Jerry Ray Keenan and his wife, Susie, grandson, Keegan MacKenzie Rice, his wife Dalila, and greatgrandson Liam Atticus, grandsons, Kaylen Harrison Rice, Payton Lee Rice, Kyan Jackson Rice, Cooper Lane Rice, and Lance Christopher Quintana, granddaughters, Addison Rayne Rice, Avery Therese Evans, and Katherine Nicole Evans, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
