Jan King

Jan King, 69, long time Guymon resident, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 17, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

The daughter of David and Sadie LaNelle (Crownover) Turnbough, she was born November 04, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas. Jan graduated from the Seagraves, Texas High School, attended Texas Tech University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in education, and a master’s degree in elementary education from West Texas University.

Jan and William King were united in marriage on July 2, 1977 in Spearman, Texas. They moved to Guymon from Auburn, Nebraska in October of 1986. Jan was an elementary teacher, retiring in 2015, a homemaker and helpmate with William at Guymon Furniture.

She is preceded in death by her mother, LaNelle Turnbough.

Survivors include her husband, William King of the home, her father, David and wife, Vi Turnbough of Lubbock, Texas; two sons, Travis King and wife, Melissa of San Antonio, Texas, and Jason King and wife, Carol of Ulysses, Kansas. Survivors also include one brother, Gary Turnbough and wife, Judy of Shallowate­r, Texas, two sisters, Judy Jones of Portland, Oregon and Jenny Curtis and husband, Rodney of Olney, Texas; nine grandchild­ren and six great grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, February 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Guymon. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

The King family will greet friends Friday evening, February 19th between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home. Memorials in memory of Jan will be accepted for Camp Blue Haven. Memorials will be accepted at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
