Devin Bridwell

Devin Bridwell, 64 and a lifelong resident of Texhoma, OK met his creator in the early morning hours of Jan. 20,2021. Devin was born on June 2, 1956 in Guymon, OK to Wally and Bonnie Bridwell. He attended Texhoma High School where he was a straight A student and excellent football player for the Red Devils and was honored to be a player on that team the year, they won state in 1972. He went on to play one semester at 0PSU in Goodwell, OK but decided to go in another direction that led him to 0SU. He graduated from there in 1978 and went to Amarillo, Texas to begin work as an agriculture loan officer. It didn’t take Devin long to realize that “suit life” was not for him so he decided to go home to Texhoma and work the family farm with his dad but not until he met his wife for life, Brenda Beck. They married in Amarillo on Feb 2, 1980 and then moved to their home on the family farm where they raised cattle, corn, wheat, milo, sunflowers, popcorn, cotton and two strapping sons, Marshall and Austin. Devin had a pilot’s license and three different planes over the years. He loved to go up in his plane in the evening and fly over his fields and see if he had the straightest rows in the county. He survived a plane crash, his horse falling on him and a four-wheeler flipping over while he was on it. His greatest pleasure was telling people about Jesus. He went once a week to the Guymon jail to minister to the men and once a month he would go to the prison in Fort Supply. He was a quiet, somewhat shy man but get him talking about God’s word and he was bold and very confident. He was struck down in the spring of 2008 with a cruel disease that took him little by little from those he loved. He is rejoicing with his Savior today, and although his ornery grin and unforgettable laugh will be missed, we know that we will be with him again.

Devin was preceded in death by his mom and leaves behind his dad, his wife of 40 years and his two sons. A private memorial service is being held at a later date.
