Those looking to get into the nursing field still have time to register for the next CNA class hosted by. Dunaway Manor/Heritage Community. Registration is open through the end of today.

The class will begin on Sept. 14 and will meet three times a week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Students will need to attend class from 8 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. each day, and at the conclusion of the classes, students will be responsible for taking the State of Oklahoma written and practical tests at the Manor.

“Upon being successful on those tests they are certified as a Long Term Care Certified Nurse's Aide by the State of Oklahoma,” Dan Stiles, Campus Director/Administrator, said. “Dunaway Manor/Heritage Community is the only site in the Oklahoma Panhandle certified to offer the Long Term Care CNA class.”

According to Stiles, the class is being offered free of charge for those who plan on working for Dunaway Manor/Heritage Community. Those who do not plan on seeking employment at Dunaway Manor or Heritage Community can still sign up for the classes, but will have a registration fee of $750.

“We wrapped up a CNA class about a month ago that was focused more toward the high school students looking to step into the nursing industry,” he said.

Dunaway Manor and Heritage Community have been holding these CNA classes for the past few months. The upcoming class is open to anyone over the age of 18 that can pass the State Mandated Background Check. According to Stiles, the class will certify the student as a Long Term Care Certified Nurse's Aide making them eligible to work in any Long Term Care, Assisted Living or Independent Living Facility in the State of Oklahoma.

The deadline to apply for this class is this evening, Sept. 8. Those wishing to sign up for the class can contact Shauna Artho or Amanda Crawford at 580-3383186 for more information or stop by Dunaway Manor, located at 1401 North Lelia Street in Guymon and ask for an application.
