Oct. 5, at 6 p.m., the Guymon Chamber of Commerce is holding their annual banquet at Pickle Creek for the Chamber of Commerce members. The theme is “Celebrating Champions” and will have decor centered around the Olympic theme.

The Chamber of Commerce is currently taking sponsorships for this event.

Individuals and/or local business who would like to support or sponsor, can purchase individual tickets or tables that hold up to eight people. Each ticket includes the meal prepared and also the program the night will hold.

“When supporting the Chamber of Commerce, you are also supporting all businesses in Guymon, Oklahoma,” Kelly Wehling, Director of Chamber of Commerce, said.

They are holding an award show for different categories. One award is Citizen of The Year, which is a citizen that the City of Guymon chooses. Another award is Ambassador of The Year, which they are people who volunteer all their time and are not paid for their position. They also have Business of The Year, for the businesses around Guymon.

Businesses who sponsor a table, are able to decorate before the event, and take part in a contest to see who has the best decorated table.

Also, you can come to the event dressed up in a costume for the the of “Celebrating Campions” and there is also an award for best costume.

There will be a station to take selfies or group pictures with a backdrop with an Olympic theme to show off everyone's costumes and outfits.

The Chamber of Commerce is inviting five student athletes from the Guymon school system who the superintendent is selecting and during the ceremony they will be reading a biography about everything they have accomplished in school and sports just like they do with Olympic athletes.

This night is about celebrating and recognizing the current members but also encouraging to obtain new ones.

“There are a lot of things to look forward to with membership benefits,” Kelly Wehling, Director of Chamber of Commerce said.

They are completely redoing their benefits for their next physical year, which starts in October, to get more up to speed since it is 2021.
