Hand washing, Fall decor programs to be hosted by Guymon Public Library
Brandon Reynolds, the new Children's Librarian at the Guymon Public Library and Arts Center, is helping put together new events for the children of the community.
“Calling all kids! Come learn how to wash away those pesky germs,” Brandon Reynolds said. The Guymon Public Library and Panhandle Services are hosting an event to teach kids how to properly wash their hands on Fri., Nov. 12 at the library.
Theresa Carrillo from Panhandle Services for Children will be presenting and bringing special hand rub and a black light that will show where the germs on your hands are located. Kids ages 2 to 4 can come in between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. and children ages 5 through 12 can come between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
“With flu season coming up, I think learning how to properly wash our hands is extremely important to help stop the spread of germs,” Reynolds said.
The skill of washing your hands is very important for every day procedures, but especially because of Covid-19.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), appropriate hand hygiene reduces the risk of SARS-CoV-2, which is the virus that can lead to Covid-19.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says, “Regular handwashing is one of the best ways to remove germs, avoid getting sick, and prevent the spread of germs to others.”
There will be another event Monday, Nov. 22 at the library that involves painting.
“November is my favorite color,” Renyolds said, “Join us to mix your own favorite November foliage colors.”
