Garry L. “Saint” Carter, 68, lifelong Guymon resident, passed away Monday morning, November 1, 2021, at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County.

The son of Karmit Mansfield and Bertha Corrine (Weikle) Carter, Garry Lee Carter was born December 5, 1952, in Guymon. He attended the Guymon school system, graduating with the GHS Class of 1971.

Garry was married to his school sweetheart, Dianna Kay Hill, on July 30, 1971, in Guymon. Garry worked as a profession­al truck driver for 43 years, with the last 18 years with Poole Chemical of Texline, Texas. He loved spending time fishing, playing cornhole, jeeping and camping with family. He simply enjoyed any time with family he could get. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelica­l Lutheran Church. Garry touched many lives and would give the shirt off his back and help anyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Kenneth Bales and Karmit Carter; three brothers: Donald Carter, Karmit “Butch” Carter and Jerry Bales; sister-in-law, Gwen Searcy; and one great-grandson, Brynton Ridley.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Dianna Carter of Guymon; one son, Garry Lee Carter Jr. and wife, Shellie, of Guymon; one daughter, Tisha and husband, Cleet Blasingame, of Hardesty; one brother, Kenneth Wade Bales of Guymon; two sisters: Betty Louise Carter of Beebee, Arkansas, and Debbie and husband, Mike Rudolph, of Kansas; one brother-in-law, Jesse Searcy of Guymon; and two sisters-in-law, Ollie Carter and Paula Bales, both of Guymon. Garry is also survived by his five grandchild­ren: Brittany and William Bridges of Guymon, Jordan and Christa Carter of Oklahoma City, Katlyn and Alonso Hidalgo of Texhoma, Theoline and Bradley Miller of Weatherfor­d, Okla., and Zoey Hegwood of Hardesty; eight great-grandchild­ren: Aleksa, Konnor and Khylan McDowell of Guymon, Victoria Haggard of Oklahoma City, Chloe Carter of Guymon, and Daleyza, Ayviana and Taylahni Hidalgo of Texhoma; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

The family will greet friends at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home on Thursday evening, November 4, from 5 to 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, November 5 at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Evangelica­l Lutheran Church with Pastor Tyler Arends and retired Pastor Mark Westcoatt officiatin­g. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
