Canning is a science in which many people saw their grandparents do to help preserve food for the future. You may remember seeing the many jars filled with colorful fruits and vegetables or may have even eaten some home processed food.

I remember helping my mother preserve the produce from her garden and how wonderful it was to have such good food to eat in the wintertime. I have a lot of fond memories associated with canning and this workshop is designed to help those that participate learn how to do it correctly as well as safely.

In you garden, canning is a great way to capture the fresh taste of summer while cutting down on food waste.

The items you will prepare will be eligible for entry in the upcoming Texas County fair. And you just might

earn a blue ribbon on your entry.
