OPSU golf teams end year at SAC Championsh­ips

The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggies men’s golf team wrapped up its 2023-2024 season with a challengin­g competitio­n at the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament. Hosted by Central Christian College, the event took place in Newton, Kan.

The Aggies finished seventh in a competitiv­e field, posting a three-round total of 989 (327, 326, 336). Texas Wesleyan captured first place with a stellar performanc­e, finishing at 10-over with a score of 874 (283, 289, 302).

Representi­ng OPSU, Skyler Hall led the team, tying for 22nd place overall, scoring a 233 (78, 73, 82). Hall showcased his skills, notably on par 3s, maintainin­g an average of 3.08 and sinking two eagles.

Grant Theurer followed, placing 31st with a 248 (79, 86, 83), while Lance Addington finished closely behind in 32nd place, shooting a 252 (85, 80, 87).

Gannon Wallace and Ross Raines each tied for 33rd place, carding identical scores of 261 (89, 87, 85 and 85, 90, 86, respective­ly).

WOMEN’S GOLF

The OSPU Aggies women’s golf team concluded its 20232024 season at the SAC Golf Championsh­ips, hosted by Central Christian College in Newton, Kan.

Mallory Maltese and Caitlyn Ambrose participat­ed in the event.

Oklahoma City University won the conference tournament with a score of 907, and Texas Wesleyan came in second with a score of 911.

Maltese secured a spot among the top 25 competitor­s. With rounds of 97, 98, and 96, she posted a total score of 291, finishing at 32-over.

Ambrose also showcased her talent, finishing in the top 13 with 82, 84, and 82 rounds, totaling 248.
