Girl’s mom accused in ‘deepfakes’ case
A driver lost control and veered onto a sidewalk Monday dotted with homeless tents in downtownSan Diego, killing three people and injuring six others, police said.
The driver — whom authorities identified only as a 71-year-old man — was heading through a tunnel underneath a community college campus when he drove his Volvo station wagon up on the sidewalk shortly after 9 a.m., said San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit.
The driver, who got out of his car and tried to help people before identifying himself to police, was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.
“He was cooperative, (and) did not try to run away,” the chief said.
Three people died at the scene. Five of the six others who were injured were taken to hospitals, including two who were in critical condition, authorities said. beginning as early as this week, according to a memo obtained by The Associated Press that was sent Monday to members of the Dallas City Council. Federal agencies will use the facility to house boys ages 15 to 17, according to the memo, which describes the soonto-open site as a “decompression center.”
A Pennsylvania woman is accused of doctoring photos and video of her daughter’s cheerleading rivals to try to get them kicked off the squad, officials said.
The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office last week charged Raffaela Spone, 50, with three misdemeanor counts of cyber harassment of a child and related offenses.
Spone manipulated photos from social media of three girls on the Victory Vipers cheerleading squad in Chalfont to make it appear they were drinking, smoking and even nude, investigators said.
Spone also sent messages with the so-called “deepfake” pictures to the girls and suggested they kill themselves, officials said.
