Pyramid Hill events

Pyramid Hill is scaling up offerings for this year’s Art & Earth Day. A joint celebration of Arbor Day, Earth Day and International Sculpture Day, this event includes a wide range of programming throughout the day including the Contemporary Arts Center’s Spring Family Festival. From 12-3 p.m., guests are invited to Pyramid Hill’s Grand Pavilion to attend this special event that brings art and creativity outside of the gallery setting. This portion of Art & Earth Day features works by local artists and embraces creative art-making for guests of all ages.

“This year, we are very pleased to be hosting the Contemporary Art Center’s Spring Family Festival as part of our Art and Earth Day celebrations,” says Pyramid Hill Interim Director, Dr. Lee Sanders. “Pyramid Hill provides an excellent backdrop for the CAC’s family friendly activities. We love the opportunity to collaborate with another art organization as it enriches the offerings of both institutions!”

Attendees of the event are invited to participate in the UC artist walk which features outdoor sculpture projects from students at the University of Cincinnati. A continuing tradition, this exhibition of student work offers emerging artists the opportunity to not only show at a reputable venue but also to engage with the public by speaking about the motivations behind the creation of the work on display as well as insights into how the work was made.

Guests can also enjoy a happy hour from 12-3 p.m. in the Fretboard Beer Garden. As a sponsor of the event, Jim Klosterman, owner of Fretboard Brewing Company stated, “Fretboard Brewing Company was founded by musicians, so we understand the importance of supporting the arts. We are truly a prideful part of the arts community and have had the opportunity to partner with several local arts organizations including Artswave, the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, the Bootsy Collins foundation and most recently, Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum.”

To maintain a safe, socially-distanced event for our community, Pyramid Hill will be implementing a “one in, one out” policy on cars entering the park once the event reaches maximum capacity. Masks will be required in all indoor facilities including the Visitor Center and the Ancient Sculpture Museum.

Thompson will manage all that and much more. She is passionate about her craft and a true leader in education,” said Debbie Houser, MCSD Senior Director of Human Resources.

Since 2015, Thompson worked with the Warren County Educational Service Center as a Special Education Supervisor and Building Administrator. During this time, she worked with the Butler and Warren Counties Collaborative Behavior Coaching Team and as a K-5 Autism Intervention Specialist.

“I am incredibly honored to be given the opportunity to join Middletown City Schools in my new role as student services coordinator. Middletown’s dedication to their students and community is exactly the type of environment in which I desire to continue my career. I am excited to develop new relationships and support the staff and students of Middletown City Schools,” said Thompson.

Thompson earned her Bachelor of Science in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati, her Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati, and she is working on her Doctorate

of Education from the University of Dayton with a concentration in Leadership for Organizations.
