The 88th Annual Meeting of the Butler County Historical Society will be held Nov. 17 at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, 101 S. Monument Ave. A cash bar will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m. A brief business meeting after the dinner will feature a report of the society’s activities during 2022 and the election of new board members Rob Clevenger and Carrie Halim, and slate of officers for 2023.

The program features Joyce Lovins Browning, first person living history presenter, who will portray the life of Charlotte “Lottie” Moon Clark. Lottie and her sister, Virginia, are best known for their role as Confederat­e spies during the American Civil War. The Moon family lived in Oxford in the house still known as the “Lottie Moon House.” As a spy for the Confederac­y, Lottie smuggled letters, informatio­n and medicine to the South using several different disguises.

The dinner and meeting are open to all historical society members and the public. Tickets are $50 for individual­s and $95 for couples. People interested in attending should make reservatio­ns for the event no later than Nov. 7 by calling the society at 513896-9930.

The Butler County Historical Society, incorporat­ed in 1948, is a private non-profit formed in 1934 to preserve and promote the history of Butler County through the collection and conservati­on of artifacts and the sharing of knowledge through education and community engagement. It owns and operates the Benninghof­en House Museum, a high-Italian style home built in 1863 that is filled with the furnishing­s of a wealthy family during the Victorian Era. It also manages the Soldiers, Sailors and Pioneers Monument on Front Street and Heritage Hall located in the 1935 City Hall building on High Street. Heritage Hall is the permanent location of the Robert McCloskey Collection. The Society is located at 327 N. Second St. enter the church and everyone is welcome. The church is located at 2500 Grand Ave.

Drug Take Back

DEA’s National Prescripti­on Drug Take Back Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. The day encourages the public to remove unneeded medication­s from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.

The Telhio Credit Union Board of Directors recently announced the promotion of Derrick Bailey to president.

Derrick joined Telhio in 2013. Three years later he joined the executive team. Derrick most recently served as Chief Sales Officer.
