Ohio 126 will be closed for culvert replacemen­t Monday at the 7.66-mile marker on Ohio 126, east of Morgan Ross Road.

The closure will be in effect through May 31, and traffic will be detoured via Ohio 748, Ohio 129, U.S. 27 and Ohio 128.

The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract in the amount of $2.49 million to complete the work, which also includes resurfacin­g a portion of S.R. 126 from Shandon to Ross at a date to be announced. All work is scheduled to be complete in the fall.

The “Pitching for Platelets” donor event continues to run between Monday and May 30 at all Hoxworth neighborho­od donor event centers. Any platelet donor will be entered for a chance to win the first pitch at the June 8, Cincinnati Reds game vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers at Great American Ballpark. The winning package includes the first pitchcatch on June 8, four tickets to the game and a personaliz­ed Reds jersey. Platelet donations may be made at any Hoxworth neighborho­od donor center.

It hurriedly scheduled a new blood drive last September in response to the “Make-A-Wish” Foundation request of senior Will Davis, who had been diagnosed with leukemia in December 2021. Fairfield’s three blood drives combined for 335 donors, including 217 first time donors. Davis has progressed in his treatment, returned to school, made straight A’s, and will graduate with his classmates. He showed his appreciati­on by volunteeri­ng at the blood drive, welcoming students at the check-in desk.
