April PROTOCOL meeting details

The Lindenwald community council, People Reaching Out To Others: Celebrate Our Lindenwald (PROTOCOL) met on April 17 at The Nature Center, 101 Joe Nuxhall Way.

Issues relating to speeding, parking in the tree line, parking the wrong way, etc. were brought up. Sgt. Brian Ungerbuehl­er via a later email reminds residents to share concerns using 311 service request app/traffic or 911.

Troy Schwable shared plans for a July 4 celebratio­n in Hamilton, the parade followed by a downtown, old-fashioned family friendly celebratio­n focusing on baseball, ice cream and apple pie. Many volunteers are needed.

Peggy Bange and Clint Cole addressed the current status of three nuisance properties that have been active for many months.

She also shared that all things 17 Strong can be found at their website 17strongha­milton.org, noting that 17 Strong will walk in the Memorial Day Parade. Residents of all neighborho­ods are encouraged to participat­e.

Upcoming events specific to the Lindenwald community: Spring Clean The 17 will meet at from 5-6 p.m. May 6 at 20 Dayspring Drive. The Cube will be present. There will be a “Walk To School” event at 8:30 a.m. May 12, celebratin­g the new sidewalks along Vanhook Ave and the flashing beacon crosswalk at St. Clair Ave. Meet at Benninghof­en (splash pad ) Park.

Brandi Hazelwood, Linden Elementary, received a 17 Strong Grant for a Color Run on May 21 starting at Schuster Park and ending at Benninghof­en (splash pad) Park. Misty Duff, Lindenwald Litter Patrol, received a 17 Strong Grant to purchase street planters that will be placed, planted and maintained along the 2200 block of Pleasant Avenue

There will be no May meeting. The council suggests that all residents spend that hour helping pick up litter in the community. Next meeting will be June 19.
