3 WAYS TO WELLNESS

GURNEY’S MONTAU ESORT & SEAWATER SPA HAS UPPED THE ANTE WITH CAN’T-BE-FOUND-ELSEWHERE ACTIVITIES TO MAKE THE ADDITIONAL DRIVE WORTH IT.

A trip out to Montauk always soothes the soul. Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa has put together a trifecta of go-to activities.

“Every year, we try to perfect ourselves and have more offerings that give something for everybody,” says Gurney’s general manager Michael Nenner, “whether you want a quiet, shady spot to read in one of our hammocks or dinner at Scarpetta.” Here are three more ways Gurney’s plans to enhance guests’ well-being.

1. Sea spa. Gurney’s boasts the only indoor seawater pool in North America. Perfect for a calming soak or healing swim, it’s like taking a dip in the ocean but so much more relaxing. Shots of seawater for drinking, a Gurney’s tradition, are available off-menu. “We stopped doing it officially several years ago,” says Nenner. “We’ve been around for 90 years, so there are many guests who’ve been coming for decades. Those people who know about the seawater shots ask for them.” 2. Après sun. Guests can soothe their skin with Gurney’s newest spa indulgence, a refreshing aloe wrap for the body, plus a moisturizing facial mask. The treatment finishes with hydrating coconut oil and a cooling mist. “There’s a spa menu, but it’s customizable,” says Nenner. “Our therapists are trained to make sure we’re using the right products for your skin type. They’ll make the recommendations and adjustments that suit your needs.”

3. Fitness alfresco. Gurney’s has teamed up with wellness firm the Wellth Collective to bring classes like barre, spin, Pilates, and more to the beach. Brands such as Y7, Bari Studio, Cityrow, and Exhale will hold weekend classes for guests and the public. “You’re working out but still outside, breathing ocean air and enjoying your surroundings,” says Nenner.
